UUP’s Web site a hit!

UUP’s Web site has been a hit with members and others, providing up-to-date information to 276,190 people that clicked on the site as of mid-July.

“It shows our members are using our new means of communication to get information,” said Phil Smith, UUP’s vice president for academics.

The most hits have been on the benefits page, followed closely by those seeking information on the UUP contract. People seeking information from past and current issues of The Voice have also logged hundreds of hits. Many Web users have also sought legislative information from UUP’s Web site.

Campuses showing the most interest are SUNY Buffalo, with 26,692 hits, and Buffalo State, with 23,591. Smith said both UUP chapters have a link to the statewide UUP Web site from their sites, thus encouraging computer users to link to the main site.

Other chapters are encouraged to set up similar site links, Smith said. SUNY Albany registered 7,391 hits, while SUNY Oswego and SUNY Cortland were 2,714 and 2,328, respectively – right around the same number as the state of New York, which visited UUP’s site 2,728 times!

Geographically, most interest came from the United States (nearly 170,000 hits), with Thailand, Latvia, Egypt and Guatemala bringing up the rear with three hits each.
