UUP responds

A statement from President William Scheuerman

“The horror of Sept. 11, and all of its ramifications, momentarily stunned our nation as we came to grips with the national and personal tragedies that resulted from the violence.

“But, as is typical of Americans, our response has been far more deliberate and far more forceful than the treacherous act itself.

“Americans — especially New Yorkers — are once again showing our resiliency and resolve. Heroes are emerging. Leaders are stepping forward. Despair is giving way to determination. Amid the grief and anger, we have pride.

“I am especially proud of the women and men of UUP who have selflessly responded to the needs of their fellow citizens. These UUPers — and other Americans across the country — provide the confidence that freedom and peace will ultimately prevail.”
