The Voice May/June 2002 Member benefits: Let LifeWorks® for you Too much to do in too little time? There’s a new benefit that can help.
UUP is pleased to introduce LifeWorks®, a “new” employee resource program. Today, more than ever before, members find it necessary to balance the demands of work with those of their personal lives. LifeWorks® can make it easier for you to meet those challenges by offering information, advice and support on a wide range of topics. Its consultants can help you and the members of your family with issues that arise at virtually any life stage, including parenting and child care, schooling and education, personal budgeting, midlife and retirement, helping older relatives and those with disabilities, and other everyday issues.
LifeWorks® can save you time, energy and worry by providing quick, easy access to valuable information tailored to meet your needs.
Help is available from LifeWorks® 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by phone or online. Whether you have a simple question or a complex concern, LifeWorks® is fast, confidential and easy to use. And best of all, it’s absolutely free.
Some of you may be familiar with the Child and Elder Care Resource and Referral Service that was available the last five years to New York state employees in New York City and Westchester County. The name has changed to LifeWorks® and the program has expanded its service statewide to New York state employees (not retirees). Life-Works® is sponsored by the New York State Family Benefits Pro-gram, jointly funded through the negotiated agreements between the state of New York and the participating unions, including UUP.
Call an experienced LifeWorks® consultant to request information (i.e., books on a child’s temper tantrums); deal with a crisis (a parent will have to be placed in a nursing home); locate a resource (to find a new day-care provider); or discuss a situation (how to speak with children about violence and war). The consultant will work with you to clarify concerns and to develop a plan to resolve them, drawing on a wealth of resources and in-house experts.
LifeWorks® can provide personalized searches and referrals for child care, elder care and schools. It also has an extensive audio library of Tips-on-Tape.
Contact LifeWorks® at (800) 362-9874 (TTY/TDD 800-346-9188) or online at www.lifeworks.com (company name: nys; password: 2670).
Give LifeWorks® a call today and reduce some of the stress in your life.
