The Voice
January 2003

Theme: UUPers active and involved

It’s not easy to define a UUPer. Members of the nation’s largest higher education union teach, advise and research. They coach, sing and supervise. Some UUPers spackle and paint. Others write and publish. Still others compose and perform.

Some save lives.

UUPers are active and involved on their campuses, in their chapters and as part of their communities.

As a new year begins, The Voice celebrates the contributions of UUP members and is proud to share a pictorial sampling of all they do for their University and for their hometowns.
Sally Knapp UUPer Sally Knapp, right, a librarian at SUNY Albany, instructs a student researcher.
SUNY Canton UUPer Robert Blickwedehl, an instructor in SUNY Canton’s civil and construction engineering technology program, orients Caleb LaGarry to the college’s new electronic transits.
SUNY Binghamton SUNY Binghamton UUPer Nancy Stamp, a professor of biological sciences, second from right, helps graduate students and a local elementary school teacher prepare to teach math and science.
NYSTI UUPers David Bunce, left, and John Romeo, standing, perform in the NYSTI production The Killing Tales, also featuring NYSTI intern Sean Mack. The production was directed by UUP member Ed. Lange.
SUNY Morrisville SUNY Morrisville UUPer Kerry Beadle, left, and a student prepare to serve roast duck to guests during a roast for UUP Chapter President Bert Hundredmark.
SUNY Alfred SUNY Alfred UUP member and head baseball coach Tom Kenney, left, teaches base-running strategy to one of his ballplayers.
