Director of Laboratory Animal Facilities: (SL-6)
Is responsible for the provision and coordination of laboratory animal services for utilization by staff and students in the medical biological and behavioral sciences. Assures appropriate veterinary care for laboratory animals with the use DVM consultants and by directing disease control, prevention and euthanasia; directs/instructs project directors, faculty, technical and professional staff in the proper use and handling of animals as part of instructional and research programs; provides professional consultation with academic staff and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in connection with research involving the use of laboratory animals; supervises research by graduate and professional students as required; plans for the development of animal facilities to meet the needs of expanding programs. May participate in instructional activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in animal husbandry or laboratory animal science or in one of the biological sciences; experience in the practical application of genetics, nutrition, and sanitation in the development of laboratory animals for research.

Associate Director of Laboratory Animal Facilities: (SL-5)
Serves as second-in-charge to the Director of Laboratory Animal Facilities and as the ranking administrator during the Director’s absence. Assists the Director in every aspect of the responsibilities of the Director; is responsible for personnel management in the facility, including recruiting, training and administrative supervision of the staff; is responsible for the preparation and administration of the facility budget.
