Edward H. Quinn was first elected Membership Development Officer (MDO) of United University Professions in 2003 at the Winter Delegate Assembly. Quinn also served as a member of the UUP Negotiations Team, an at-large member of the UUP Executive Board, as vice chair of the statewide Professional Issues Committee, chair of the Membership Committee and delegate to NYSUT and AFT since 1999. His other statewide service includes chair of the Solidarity Committee and representative to the NYS Labor-Religion Coalition, where he has worked on behalf of UUP helping with the “Sweat Free Campaign”.
At the Stony Brook chapter, Quinn served as Vice President for Professionals, chair of a local Professional Issues Committee and VOTE/COPE coordinator. He is a chapter delegate and has attended both the NYSUT Leadership Institute and NYSUT Organizing Institute.
Currently the assistant to the chair of the Department of Theatre Arts at SUNY at Stony Brook, Quinn has also worked on the campus as assistant director for facilities in the Department of Student Union & Activities.
His community service includes two years as chair of the Board of Directors of the Brookhaven Youth Orchestra, as well as production manager and stage manager. He also has volunteered as a "DJ" at WUSB Radio at SUNY at Stony Brook. He also helped draft the by-laws of the Long Island chapter of the New York State Labor-Religion Coalition.
Quinn earned both his B.A. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Policy & Management from SUNY at Stony Brook. He and his wife live in Miller Place and have two children.
