Advocates promote budget priorities
Steve Grassl of Upstate Medical University, third from left, stresses the importance of meeting the funding needs of SUNY’s hospital in Syracuse in a meeting with Sen. David Valesky (D-Oneida), center, during UUP’s Western and Central New York and Southern Tier advocacy day in Albany.
Grassl was among the group of UUPers from Upstate Medical who met with Valesky along with Morrisville Chapter President Jim Engle, left. They emphasized that additional funds are needed in the state budget to enable Upstate to continue its specialized health care services.
Nearly 60 UUP advocates visited the offices of close to four dozen lawmakers to bring home the point that investing in SUNY will produce dividends by fueling the state’s economy.
The April 1st legislative visits marked UUP’s last scheduled advocacy day this year.
