Statement by William E. Scheuerman,
President of United University Professions
Regarding the Selection of John Ryan
 as SUNY Chancellor

 “We are encouraged by the SUNY Board of Trustees’ decision choosing John Ryan as chancellor.

“As Acting Chancellor, John Ryan has been a strong advocate for SUNY, as shown in part by his call for more full-time faculty to allow SUNY to grow. We hope as Chancellor, that Ryan continues down this same path.

“We look forward to working with Chancellor Ryan in growing SUNY for the benefit of all New Yorkers.”

UUP represents more then 34,000 academic and professional faculty on 29 New York State-operated campuses, and is an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO and New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).
