UUP kicks off legislative lecture seriesOn Wednesday, November 16th, United University Professions (UUP) will kick off the first in a series of legislative lectures. The topic will be “Can We Find the Dollars – and Sense – to Protect New York’s Environment.”
The speaker will be Professor Barry Boyer, a faculty member of the University of Buffalo Law School for more than 30 years. He has also served as dean of the law school and director of the university’s Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy.
While New York state has made significant progress in environmental protection in recent years, Prof. Boyer will focus on the growing list of unfinished environmental business and how to meet these needs despite tight government budgets.
The program will be held in LOB Room 104B from noon to 2pm. Admission is free and a complimentary lunch will be served at noon.
The UUP lecture series is being presented with the cooperation of Senator Kenneth LaValle, chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Higher Education, and Assemblyman Ron Canestrari, chair of the Assembly Standing Committee on Higher Education. -
UUP represents more then 34,000 academic and professional faculty on 29 New York State-operated campuses, and is an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO and New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).
