UUP to hold annual legislative luncheon in LOB 

On Tuesday, Feb. 1 at noon, United University Professions (UUP) will hold its 2005 Legislative Luncheon in The Well of the Legislative Office Building in Albany.

UUP President William Scheuerman and dozens of UUP members from around the state will meet with state lawmakers to discuss the union’s legislative priorities.

UUP is pushing for increased state funding for SUNY campuses, and opposes the Executive Budget proposals to: privatize SUNY hospitals; cut Medicaid funding to the hospitals; add a “sick tax” on all hospital revenues; and, cut financial aid to Educational Opportunity Program students.

President Scheuerman and several legislative leaders will address the union members.

UUP represents more then 34,000 academic and professional faculty on 29 New York State-operated campuses, and is an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO and New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).
