UUP president re-elected to lead union; other officers and board members chosen

Albany, May 5, 2003 - United University Professions (UUP) President William E. Scheuerman of SUNY Oswego was re-elected to serve a sixth term of office at the union's Spring 2003 Delegate Assembly held over the weekend in Albany.
Scheuerman is on leave as a professor of political science at Oswego.UUP delegates also elected two other officers during their policy-making assembly:
Eileen Landy, an associate professor of sociology at SUNY College of Old Westbury, was re-elected to a second term as UUP's statewide secretary; and Edward Quinn, assistant to the chair of the Theatre Arts at SUNY Stony Brook, was chosen as UUP's membership development officer.
Eight members of the union's Executive Board were also elected:Patricia Bentley, a librarian at SUNY Plattsburgh;
Albert Ermanovics, associate director of student life at SUNY Buffalo;
Jose Feliciano, physics lab manager at SUNY Stony Brook;
Frederick Floss, an economics professor at Buffalo State College;
Rosemary Hennessy, an associate professor of English at SUNY Albany;
Michael Silverberg, an associate professor of medical informatics at Stony Brook Health Sciences Center;
Michael Smiles, a biology professor at SUNY Farmingdale; and
Darryl Wood, house operations director at the Anderson Fine Arts Center at Binghamton University.
Nearly 300 academic and professional delegates from across the state attended the two-day assembly.. -
UUP represents more then 34,000 academic and professional faculty on 29 New York State-operated campuses, and is an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO and New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).
